Over the next month, players from across the country will be announcing whether they will opt out of the upcoming season due to the danger of playing during a pandemic.
This morning, WVU safety Kerry Martin Jr. announced that he would be sitting out. Martin played in all 12 games as a freshman and recorded 50 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 2.5 tackles for loss.
As shown in the tweet above, Martin suffers from sickle cell anemia and asthma which could put him at risk. I think I speak for all of Mountaineer Nation when I say I commend him for his decision and look forward to seeing him with another year of training under his belt and coming back stronger for the 2021 season.
