Marshall Dominates in Lubbock

Marshall took a trip down to West Texas and put a Thundering Spanking on the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. It was a tale of two different philosophies as Tech aired the ball out and Marshall committed to the ground and pound.

Last week was an abysmal week for Marshall quarterback Grant Wells. 2 of 22 passing is never how you want to finish a game. This week, Wells turned that around to go 4 of 5 for 121 yards and 2 scores. The Thundering Herd committed to the run in a big way. 40 carries for 400 yards from the running back Brenden Knox. Tech was able to grab 300 yards through the air but the Marshall defense forced enough stops to take this one easily 51-21.

With Middle Tennessee being the only Conference USA team to pull out a victory in the opening week, this win should solidify Marshall as one of the conferences premier teams. Marshall will return home to face Vanderbilt in Week 3.
