Week 11 College Football Preview

What a wild weekend of college football. Clemson couldn’t avoid an upset for the second straight week as Notre Dame took them down in overtime and stormed the field after taking down the number one team in the country. Florida used a 24 point second quarter to help vault them over the #5 Georgia. Stetson Bennett didn’t look great before getting hurt and D’Wan Mathis looked even worse. If the Bulldogs want to have any chance to make the playoffs, they need J.T. Daniels to get cleared.

This week doesn’t have a list of fun games to watch like the last few weekends did but sometimes it is these types of weeks that create the most chaos. There will only be 14 ranked teams in action on Friday and Saturday due to the posponement of 4 SEC games and 1 Big Ten game. Let’s dive in to what games we have to look forward to.

We’ll go to the ACC to start as #9 Miami takes on Virginia Tech. VT is fresh off of the loss to Liberty but I don’t think that is anything to be ashamed of. Liberty is a good football team that matches up well with what Virginia Tech wants to do. Miami is coming off of a narrow victory Friday night against NC State. The Canes were able to score 13 unanswered points in the final 11 minutes to steal a win and move into the top 10. The last time Miami took on someone of Khalil Herbert’s level, the Canes got beat 42-17 behind 149 rushing yards for Travis Etienne. Khalil Herbert should do much of the same and I think Miami goes down as they won’t be able to keep up. Vegas agrees with me too as Virginia Tech is favored. Over 80% of the bets have come in on Miami and the line hasn’t moved.

Spread: Virginia Tech -2.5
Total: O/U 67.5

Prediction: Miami 31 Virginia Tech 42

The SEC lost its game of the week when the Alabama game went down earlier in the week. There are only three games to pick from but there is one that jumps out that will be on my board later this week on The Final Drive. I know Ole Miss has a bad defense but there is no reason that South Carolina and Ole Miss should have a total of 70. South Carolina has only finished a game within one possession twice this year. They haven’t scored above 27 points this year so I don’t think Collin Hill will be able to take advantage of this defense. Ole Miss wins and covers.

Spread: Ole Miss -11
Total: O/U 70

Prediction: South Carolina 24 Ole Miss 38

Michigan and Wisconsin should be the game of the day as Michigan looks to rebound after two straight losses. Will Wisconsin be able to bounce back after a 3 week layoff? Graham Mertz looked impressive in their big opening win against Illinois but what should we expect from the Badgers? We’ve found out over the past few weeks that Illinois is just not good this year losing to Purdue and getting beat down by Minnesota. I think we still get a pretty good performance from the Badgers as Michigan hasn’t defended the pass well. The hot seat will continue to burn for Jim Harbaugh as he loses a close one.

Spread: Wisconsin -4.5
Total: O/U 53.5

Prediction: Wisconsin 23 Michigan 20
