The Big 12 has announced that West Virginia’s basketball program could not meet the required conference’s COVID-19 thresholds on Monday. Therefore, the road trip to Baylor for Tuesday’s 7:00 game has been cancelled. The teams will work with the Big 12 conference to find a way to reschedule the game.
Reports had surfaced going into last week that a few of the WVU players were dealing with the flu. Bob Huggins said earlier this morning that everyone was healthy and practicing but wouldn’t know about positive tests until later in the day. “We just got tested again. I won’t know until later today what the results are. We had a guy with the flu really bad. Then we had a couple guys with flu symptoms. As of yesterday, everybody was there, and everybody was fine” Huggins stated earlier today.
Shane Lyons added, “Our intent is to get the spread under control as soon as possible for the health and safety of all involved. While the issue has hit many college basketball programs, we have been fortunate to have played 13 games so far this season.”
Updates will come as we find out more.
