Houston Atros @ Chicago White Sox, 2:07
Pitching Probable’s: McCullers (HOU) vs. Rodon (CHI)
Game four of this ALDS set has the White Sox again facing elimination. After tossing a 12 spot on the board in game three behind a balanced lineup where six guys recorded an RBI, Chicago will try to slow down a Houston lineup that has mashed the baseball so far. On the Bump
The White Sox will put their season into the hands of Carlos Rodon. The top-end talent will carry his 2.37 ERA and sub-1 WHIP into the start. Rodon does not have much Postseason experience but has + stuff – he punched out 185 over 132.2 IP this season. Rodon has been effective against this Houston lineup already this season, giving up only four hits over 45 batters faced.
The Astros will send Lance McCullers to the bump for his second start of the series. McCullers completely shut down this White Sox lineup to the tune of 6.2 IP, 4 Ks, 4 H and 0 ER.
FanDuel: Astros -108, White Sox -108
The Astros outright is incredibly appealing in this matchup. The Astros are Postseason experienced, high octane, and shown now in recent playoff runs they have no issues closing out a series. The White Sox on the other hand have very little Postseason experience outside of their manager and have had their bullpen torn apart throughout this series.
Take the Astros where you can get them before the line goes up live. They have simply manhandled this Chicago pitching staff for days now. In their only win, the Sox still gave up six and used multiple arms. Closeout game, with a depleted Sox team at pickum odds? This is a spot to fatten that betting account up.
The over/under for Ks on both starters are interesting. McCullers’ sits at 6.5, and while he can at times post swing and miss games, the White Sox have already faced him and hit the under here. Rodon is the most enticing one here though at 4.5. That is an incredibly low number. Chicago’s bullpen has been used a ton over the last few days and Rodon certainly has the stuff to grab some strikeouts.
Take something smaller on McCullers under and ramp up for that Rodon over. Rodon’s career strikeout numbers are big and the team is going to be looking to get some length out of him if possible
The over is at 8.5 which is a bit large, however, the offensive output in this series has been high. Both starts have great stuff and with how things have shaken out it will probably have to be the Astros who carry the freight if the over is to hit.
This is a tricky one. While each game in the series so far has gone over, the tendencies in a closeout game are for the pitching to stand out. We are leaning towards the over but not with anything substantial.
The Astros outright is a great pick with the odds we are being given. Grab that before first pitch along with the McCullers under and Rodon over for k’s.
